Sacrament Preparation

Sacrament Preparation is done on a case-by-case basis depending on the sacraments recieved and level of education about the faith.  If you would like more information about sacrament preparation, please contact one of the following.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

This sacrament is powerful in two ways. First, it is like "spiritual garbage dump" where we take our sins and leave them forever. Second, it is a kind of "filling station" where our Lord Jesus Christ pours his grace into us, to recharge us, so we can overcome sin and live as the children of God.

Wednesday: 5-5:45 pm in St. Clare Chapel
Saturday: 9-10 am in St. Boniface Church
3:30-4:30 pm at St. Mary Church
Anytime by appointment
During Advent and Lent, St. Boniface joins with St. Mary and St. Teresa parishes for communal penance services. But that may be a long wait!

If you haven't been to confession in a while...welcome back!  Here are a few helpful links to refresh your memory on the rite:

Baptism

Baptisms are celebrated either during Mass on Sunday, or on the third Sunday of the month after the 5 pm or Noon Mass. Parents and Godparents must attend a Baptismal Preparation Program before having the child baptized. It is advised that this take place before the birth of the child. Please contact the Parish Office for details: (937) 773-1656 or secretary@stbonifacepiquaoh.org

Marriage

Marriages are performed for active registered members and their children. Couples must make an appointment with the pastor at least six months prior to the proposed wedding date. Only one wedding will be scheduled per day. Couples are required to attend Marriage Preparation Classes and comply with all Parish policies.  Please contact the Parish Office for more details (937) 773-1327 or secretary@stbonifacepiquaoh.org

Anointing of the Sick

This Sacrament of Healing is readily offered anytime on request. It is for anyone above the age of reason who is seriously ill, facing surgery, or advanced in age. This includes expectant mothers.

If scheduled for surgery or to deliver your baby: because the local hospitals do not a Catholic priest assigned to them full time, why not plan ahead? Arrange to have the priest pray with you, in church or at home, with family and friends; this can be very powerful and provides great peace of mind.

This sacrament will now be available after a weekend Mass once a month. In odd months, it will follow the Saturday, 4 pm Mass at St. Boniface; in even months, it will follow the Sunday, Noon Mass at St. Mary.

About hospital visits: because of federal privacy laws, hospitals are now very leery of advising parishes you are there, unless you give very specific permission. Unfortunately, this is not explained well when patients are admitted and as a result, many times one of our parishioners is in--and out--of the hospital without any visits from a priest or extraordinary minister bringing holy communion!

Given this situation, you have to be insistent and persistent with the hospital pastoral care department to ensure you are on "the list" of Catholic patients. This is important, since priests from other parishes in the area also visit, and they rely on the hospital's list of Catholic patients to know who to call on.
