What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a national fund raising program designed to raise money for schools and non-profit organizations. Vendors participating in the SCRIP program provide a gift certificate or gift card (SCRIP card) and when the card is used to purchase their products, a percentage of the sales goes back to the organization selling the SCRIP. Each vendor returns a different percentage - anywhere from 3%-20%.
On the right is a list of regular vendors that the PTO keeps in stock on a regular basis. These are mostly local businesses that participate in the SCRIP Program. There is also a large list of National Vendors that provide SCRIP that you can use online. Ask for a copy of this list from a PTO Representative at Mass on Sundays, or contact the Parish Offices 773-1656.
Since most people will purchase items from these vendors during the course of a year, this is an easy, low maintenence way to raise money for your parish that costs nothing extra! Raise money for your school without extra cost to you or without pounding the pavement? How can you not do this?
How SCRIP works…
- Buy a gift certificate or a gift card from a PTO volunteer at school or after Mass.
- Take this card to the store or business.
- Spend it like money—you get full value! (Pay $20 for a card; get $20 in goods.)
- Retailer gives money back to PTO from each sale.
- It’s that simple!
How to “re-load” SCRIP cards (for example: Krogers, and Soak-n-Suds Car Wash):
- After you buy your card, go to the store.
- Before you pay for anything, tell the cashier you want to add $ to the card. Pay with cash, credit/debit card or check. Retailer will add that $ to your card.
- Spend—reload—repeat: week after week.
- $$$ flows to your parish and school!
What difference can SCRIP make? $250,000 a year!
- 1200 households (between both parishes)
- x $100 groceries a week (average: some buy less, others more)
- x 4% rebate
- x 52 weeks a year=
- $249,600 annual income*
Limited-Time Special:
- These cards also “reloadable” in the vending area or online at www.Soaknsuds.com
- 5% of all purchases comes back to PTO to help parish and school.
